Rabindra Jayanti

Rabindra  Jayanti  is celebrated  on 8^th of May. This year we all celebrated 150 years of Rabindra Nath Tagore.

We had a great function in my school on this occasion. I was a dancer with some of my friends. Other kids took part in poetry  and singing. 

I wore a pretty red saree,jewellery and many other things. In Rabindra Sangeet dance white flowers are the main part of the costume. From last two weeks we all had been practicing for the programme.

My friends clapped and cheered a lot.

We had a great day celebrating Rabindra jayanti.

Durga Puja 2011

2nd OCT WAS THE FIRST DAY OF PUJA WHICH WAS MY SISTERS BIRTHDAY.
IT WAS A GREAT FUN IN OUR COMPLEX.
WE ALL WORE NEW CLOTHES AND SHOES.
NEXT DAY WE WENT DOWN AND DID ANJOLI.
WE ALSO WENT FOR PANDLE HOPPING.
ME AND MY SISTER ALSO ATE EGGROLL.

Independence Day

15th August is the Independence Day of India

We woke up and we had a rush. We went to my sister, Sreeja's school. Her teachers and friends sang Independence day songs. They sang Nunna Munna and 'Jana gana Mana'. The teachers gave sweets to every student. We came back home. Then I played with my friend. She went home. I and Sreeja took bath. We did our lunch.

I watched TV and the rest were sleeping. I was writing a story. At the evening my dad's big sister and her family came and my dad's big brother and his famly came to our house.

My first Bhajan

I did my first bhajan on my mother's birthday - 6th August 2011 at my grandmother's place.

The bhajan I sang was - 'Hey Nand Nand Gopal ...'

Everyone said I sang well

My birthday

I turned 6 on 16th Feb 2011. I celebrated that day with a traditional lunch and the birthday party was on Sunday - 20th Feb 2011.

The Marriage Week

I was very excited as I was going to my Di's birthday. This was my first real marriage that I would attend.

On the first day ie 11th February, it was little fun. I went with my family and Diya to Barrackpore. The occasion was 'ai-buro-bhat'. I made a new friend and her name was 'Somashree'. Together we became the 'Explorers'.

The next day it was the marriage. So we had lots of fun. We went in the morning and came back at night. That day we went to Barrackpore in a Taxi. We picked my cousin sister, her name is raashi and her mom and my mom’s parents. There were nine people in the taxi.

The marriage was in the evening and – I was a neth kone and dressed in a sari. My mom dressed me up and I looked just like the bride. . We had four explorers – Raashi, my sister, Somashree and me.

That night my mom stayed back and my sister and myself came back home with my father.

The wedding reception called bou-bhath in Bengali was on 14th February. This event was at the groom's place at Salt Lake.

Diwali 2010

At Diwali we had a party at our house. We did fireworks (actually cracklers) and had great food...

As per our tradition, we put candles around the house. This time we also put lights on the balcony - my parents got this as I had wanted to put lights last year just like other people do. The lights were blinking lights and they looked great!

Halloween 2010

This year Halloween was great fun.



On Sunday, I first went to the Halloween parade at our apartment. There I met my other friends and together we had fun. Then I went to Soham-dada's house where they had a parade in the evening. Later in the evening I went out with my friends doing 'Trick or Treat'.

At the end of the day I was tired and exhausted! Looking forward to the next year...

Halloween--2010 - At Pumpkin Patch

Then on Saturday, my dad took us to the pumpkin patch. There were slides and bouncers on which Twi & myself went and had great fun there.

I also wanted to buy a pumpkin to decorate. But my mother explained that it was late for this year instead she offered to get us our favourite pizza and I readily agreed.

Halloween at School 2010

At school we had the parade on Friday in the morning while the actual Halloween was on Sunday - 31st Oct.

My Dad, Mom and sister came to watch the parade. All the KG classes gathered in the kindergarten playground and children sat around.Ms Moorhead called out individual classes and then we walked around showing our dresses. This year I dressed as the Fairy Queen. I had wings, a tiara, wand and neckless

My Dance Program at Sanskriti

I performed on stage at the Sanskriti Durga Puja - Talent Show on 10th October 2010.

I had two performances - one was Magic Umbrella and the other was Kathak.

The Kathak performance was first where I did Guru Puja and Kathak steps. I was accompanied by my friends Gungun, Alisha, Aditi, Antara and Savvy.






For the Magic Umbrella, I had Kutush, Marco, Oishi, Raina and Nishant as my fellow dancers.

My Drawings

I love to paint and draw. I started painting when I was three years old. At that time I would use crayons to color drawings. My father made me do two pages everyday. My mother helped me choose the colors and guide me on how to do the coloring. That is what got me started on painting. I finished several coloring books in the first year. I got some books from my friend Aritra and loved coloring them...

Then I went to India when I was about four and there I went to a art school. The teacher was very nice and taught me many things about drawing and painting. I would go to the class every Sunday and then practice the same during the next week. This way I began to do well.




I participated in several drawing competitions. The first one I went to was at the Diwali Mela at Cupertino, in November 2008. There I won the 2nd prize for coloring. Then I won the 2nd prize at the NABC Nexgen's art competition in July 2009. During the Durga Puja at Pashchimi, I got the 1st prize in the Age 3-6yrs category.


That's why my Dad keeps saying - Practice makes a person perfect!

Chicago Trip

My family went to Chicago on 6th August 2010. My spent my mom's birthday in Chicago. I had two boat rides and also had a train ride. We went to NavyPier and also went on the open-top bus. We had ice cream two times and we went to Devon Street and buy bangle and ate yummy Indian food. The End.



We were there for three days - reached on 6th August and left on 8th August. During those days we did a lot of walking, sightseeing and eating!

On Day1 we went to Millenium Park, played in the fountain there, saw the 'Bean', visited the Art Institute, walked down Magnificent Mile and ate at McDonalds



On Day2 we went on the open top Bus, took the shoreline boat cruise and also did the architectural cruise. Then we spent the rest of the day at Navy Pier. Over there Twi and me went on the Thomas train ride.


On Day3 we went to the top of the Willis Tower which was once the tallest building in the whole wide world! But today it is the third tallest one. We went to the top most floor riding a super fast elevator. It will take 400 girls as tall as me to be as tall as the building! Then we went to the area where Swami Vivekananda had come 120 years before. From there we went to Devon Street where we had lunch and my mother bought us bangles. Then we had ice cream at Baskin Robbins and then left for the airport. We reached Dallas that night!

It was a great trip and we had lots of fun!

My family live in California. They all love me and sister. My name is Tia, my sister's name is Twi. My Mommy's name is Shrabana Pal. I love my family and my friends. Each day I love my sister and my parents and my Daddy's name is Saurabh Pal.

Anandamela 2010

Anandamela 2010 was hosted by Prabasi on 26th June 2010 at Fremont. During the event I participated in a dance performance choreographed by Chandreyee mashi. My co-dancers were Raina, Oishi, Kutush, Marco & Nishant. We had a great time doing this and also practicing for the dance over the previous two months....Check out the dance

My Pre-KG Graduation

Back to School 2009

I went back to School on 24th Aug 2009. It was the first day of school at St. Martin's School.

I had a fabulous first day.



The most interesting thing I liked was my new uniform! Just look at the pictures, are they not pretty?

I made some new friends whose names I don't remember. I will get them in a couple of days!

Day out at Discovery Kingdom

During this summer we also went to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom at Vallejo near San Francisco.

We had a whale of a time there... saw a whale show, dolphin show, elephant show, tiger show and also went on the Columbus Boat!

My Birthday Party at Kolkata

I had my 4th birthday party at Kolkata. I had loads of fun on that evening and of course got a lot of gifts! I am too busy these days to look at my gifts...




Right now I'm busy enjoying Kolkata and all the love and attention of my grand parents and other relatives...

Birthday Morning

My Dance Performance

I got another opportunity to do perform a dance in California. The dance was based on Sukumar Ray's song Baburam Sapure from Abol Tabol.

The function was held on 26th October 2008 at the Cupertino Community Center.

Halloween is a wonderful time as I get lots and lots of candies!

In the morning, I dressed up as a White Fairy and went to schoole where we had a parade.

In the evening, I went round the apartment where we stay and collected candies from 4-5 neighbours. After that I went to the Mall and saw other folks with different dresses.

Tia at the Pool

I love to bath in the tub. All these days I used to think that the bath tub was a swimming pool. But when I got into the pool at our apartment, I realised what a swimming pool is. My parents had been postponing getting me into the pool.. finally they took the plunge on 10th August 2008 when I went into the pool with my father. Watch me enjoying in the water..

Rath Yatra 2008 at San Francisco

ISKCON organized Rath Yatra 2008 at Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. We had a great time at the event.
